OVERVIEW

A visual identity and website for an eCommerce brand that I both co-founded and had a large role in developing and managing. The brand is rooted in environmental consciousness and aims to make an impact on climate change while also providing a platform for geographical artwork. I developed the logo, identity, web design and product designs, and was heavily involved in various brand assets related to marketing and product promotion.

API Integrations

A substantial amount of work was put into the print-on-demand aspect of the site. Users could upload their own photo or artwork into a stylized frame in a user interface that allowed them to preview the final product. I created an AWS Lambda function to handle orders which converted the final customer art into a flat print-quality image using ConvertAPI, then reformatted the order details into JSON format and passed the order along to the Printify API for print-on-demand fulfillment. In this way, orders were fully automated.

Site Customization

The site itself was fully customized within the Shopify Liquid language, using several cooperating plugins and resources that were customized and integrated with one another. A fully customized site theme was created within Shopify, and several additional features were added such as support chat, a map-based product filter, and an art customization UI. A full design system and high fidelity site mockups were created within Figma to allow for new feature testing and user flow planning.

Branding and Marketing

The Bearings brand is colorful, natural, and bold. I used a combination of eclectic fonts and bright, natural colors to give the brand a distinct and organic feel. A brief brand standards document was created to codify typography, color and logo usage standards. A series of social media ads were created and distributed through the Google Ads and Facebook Ads networks. Social Media assets were also created for use in the brand's Instagram and Facebook feed.
